Happy Halloween!

October 31, 2011

How exciting it is to wear your swag in the creepiest Halloween costumes. I've been Googling some time now for ideas and I found the ironically freaky but cool dress up of Edward Scissorhands (kid version) and the adorable Ellen Degeneres, at her latest show. I also snitched some designs for my pumpkin and I ended up laughing at a cute pumpkin photo instead. See here: http://cosgeek.blogspot.com/2010/11/kids-edward-scissorhands.html

Even Sesame Street can hurt kids.

October 30, 2011

Well, neurologically speaking, as experts would say. Pediatricians have been arguing roundabouts regarding the delay of language development of children under age 2. Honestly, that didn't ring a bell in my head since I've been a devout TV follower since then. Thankfully, I am very much fluent...and still watching TV.

The Elvis Presley Sandwich

October 29, 2011

One would literally and figuratively go bananas on this. Elvis Presley did.

Instead of the traditional PBJs that you routinely have for breakfast (since the last medieval age that you can remember), why not try a different sandwich kind? Put a slab of peanut butter on a whatever bread you like, top that with banana slices, bacon and drizzle a little honey and you are yourself, a happy kid.

Stop Animal Cruelty!

October 28, 2011

There are just some people who are clueless on how to make their lives better or who simply do need to get a life. Take dog slaughterers for example. Just a few minutes ago, I've read an article regarding a dog being strangulated by two drunkards who made that "prank" up just for the heck of it. Being an animal supporter, I felt an instant fury. Thank God for animal anti-cruelty groups who take precise measures in preventing these kinds of circumstances.

A Semi-Reunion Of The Legends

October 27, 2011

What better way to honor a legend than to be introduced by a living armor of a legend too?

This is what Yoko Ono thus will be doing in MTV's upcoming "O Awards". Isn't it cool that the widow of the epic John Lennon will pay tribute to the latest technology innovator and icon, Steve Jobs?

Me likey: Birth announcements

June 11, 2010

I just read that one of the best ways to sell designs on Zazzle is actually to make friends and leave comments and join fan clubs, so I started doing all of the above and I happened upon this design that I really like. Of course, then I joined the fan club!

la gang tours. rly?

June 2, 2010

i just read on boing boing that la gangs are going the ways of the favelas and offering tours of their 'hoods. tourists will pay $65 to ride on a bus through south central, LA. that is fucking ridiculous. i mean, i guess the good thing about this is that he managed to create a cease-fire between the gangs and was also able to create jobs for local folks. but something about this just seems terribly wrong and exploitative...

Native Appropriations on Antique Roadshow

June 2, 2010

I just read this brilliant article on threadbared about white owners of Native American cultural artifacts. I highly suggest that you read it, but would like to share a snippet that I think was very on point:

More important than the monetary value of these objects, is the wealth they materially signify: the wealth that comes from centuries’ long and continuous accumulation of property and assets, the emotional and physical security and entitlements such property and assets enable, and the ability to pass down to future generations the socioeconomic status that inheres to such property and assets. This wealth secures and reproduces, as George Lipsitz explains in his book with the same name, “the possessive investment in whiteness.”

See the whole article here.
